Transportation & Access

José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) — Located 22 km east of El Poblado. Transfer time: 25–30 minutes by car. Direct international flights from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Orlando, New York (JetBlue), Madrid (Air Europa/Avianca), Mexico City, Panama City (Copa), Lima, and Buenos Aires. Airlines include Avianca, American, United, JetBlue, LATAM, Copa, Spirit, and Air Europa.

City transport: Modern metro system — safe and efficient. El Poblado station is the main business hub. Uber is widely available and reliable. Medellín–Bogotá flights run near-hourly (50 minutes), making multi-city itineraries easy.

José María Córdova (MDE) in Rionegro is the country’s second most important airport, with approximately 276 weekly international flights and direct connections to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, New York (JFK), Orlando, Houston, Mexico City, Panama, San José Costa Rica, Lima, Quito, Guayaquil and Madrid (Iberia). JetSmart launched BOG-MDE, MDE-CTG, MDE-SMR routes in 2024 expanding domestic connection options. The local Olaya Herrera (EOH) airport in the city serves regional turboprop flights.
