Colombia hosted 114 internationally recognized association meetings in 2024, positioning the country behind only Brazil and Argentina in Latin America. Bogotá alone accounted for 33 events, placing it among the top 5 cities in the region. Over the past decade, Colombia has captured approximately 2,800 international events from 62 countries, attracting close to one million attendees. ProColombia signed a strategic alliance with ICCA in 2024 to further strengthen the country’s capacity to attract international congresses.

Colombia’s infrastructure for large-scale events is substantial and growing. Corferias in Bogotá offers 44,430 m² of covered exhibition space across 17 pavilions, with an additional 15,000 m² of outdoor space and a Gran SalĂłn seating 6,000 theater-style. Plaza Mayor in MedellĂn provides over 30,500 m² of meeting and exhibition space across 21 meeting rooms. Centro de Convenciones Cartagena de Indias features 26,000+ m² of versatile facilities with capacity for up to 5,000 attendees.

Air Connectivity
El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá handled 45.8 million passengers in 2024, ranking #1 in Latin America and the Caribbean for passenger traffic, cargo volume, and aircraft movements. JosĂ© MarĂa CĂłrdova Airport in MedellĂn surpassed 10 million annual passengers, while Rafael Núñez Airport in Cartagena processed 7.5 million passengers including a record 1.67 million international travelers.
Hotel Infrastructure
Bogotá alone offers approximately 30,000 hotel rooms, with 34 new hotel projects under construction nationwide adding 5,579 rooms. Cartagena leads the pipeline with 5 projects totaling 1,119 rooms. The quality segment is strong, with 23 four-star properties and 12 five-star hotels in the active development pipeline.

The COP16 Biodiversity Conference took place in Cali in October-November 2024. Bogotá hosted Routes Americas 2024 and the 154th IATA Slot Conference, while Cartagena welcomed the VII Congreso Iberoamericano CEAPI. MedellĂn will host the ICCA Latin America and Caribbean Summit in September 2025.
