The Challenge

A multinational corporation with operations across Asia-Pacific was bringing its regional management team to Colombia for a series of business meetings in Bogotá. After three days of intensive boardroom sessions, the client wanted something different: a full-day incentive experience that would reward their executives while showcasing Colombian culture, nature, and outdoor activities that simply do not exist in their home markets.

The brief was clear — no generic city tours or hotel spa packages. The team wanted hands-on activities, open landscapes, and authentic Colombian experiences that would create lasting memories and strengthen team bonds.

Our Solution: A Full-Day Sabana Experience

We designed a complete day-long program across the Sabana de Bogotá — the green highland plateau surrounding the capital, where colonial haciendas, championship golf courses, and farm-to-table dining come together within 45 minutes of the city center. Every detail was coordinated: private transport, bilingual guides, all meals, and seamless transitions between venues.

Morning: Horseback Riding at Hacienda La Isabella, Tabio

The group was picked up at 8:00 AM from their hotel in northern Bogotá. After a scenic 45-minute drive through the Sabana highlands, they arrived at Hacienda La Isabella in Tabio — a traditional Colombian hacienda set against the green foothills of the Eastern Andes.

The morning began with a horseback riding workshop led by experienced local instructors. For many in the group, this was their first time on horseback, and the instructors adapted the session to all skill levels. The workshop covered basic riding technique, horse handling, and culminated in a guided ride through the hacienda’s trails with panoramic views of the Sabana valley. A traditional Colombian breakfast was served at the hacienda, featuring arepas, fresh tropical fruit, locally roasted coffee, and hot chocolate with cheese — a Bogotá highland tradition that consistently surprises international visitors.

Afternoon: Golf & Padel at Club El Rincón de Cajicá

After a short transfer from Tabio, the group arrived at Club El Rincón de Cajicá — one of Colombia’s premier private golf and country clubs, set in a stunning Andean valley at 2,600 meters elevation. The afternoon was split into two parallel workshops, letting each executive choose their preferred activity.

The golf workshop introduced the group to the unique experience of playing at altitude, where the thinner air adds 10–15% extra distance to every shot. A club professional guided the session, covering fundamentals for beginners and course strategy for experienced players. The group played a relaxed scramble format across several holes, enjoying mountain-framed fairways and the kind of year-round spring weather that makes Colombian highland golf unlike anything in Asia.

Meanwhile, the padel workshop — the fastest-growing racket sport in Latin America — provided high-energy team competition. A certified padel coach ran drills and organized mini-tournaments. Several executives who had never played before became immediately hooked, calling it the highlight of the trip.

A gourmet lunch was served at the club between activities: grilled meats, fresh salads, tropical juices, and Colombian craft beer — with views of the surrounding mountains from the club terrace.

Evening: Private Dinner in Chía

As the sun set over the Sabana, the group transferred to an exclusive event restaurant in Chía — a charming town just 30 minutes north of Bogotá known for its upscale dining scene. The evening featured a multi-course Colombian-fusion dinner in a private dining room, with dishes built around local ingredients: Boyacá lamb, Sabana potatoes, Andean herbs, and tropical fruit desserts paired with Colombian wines and artisanal cocktails.

The dinner served as both a celebration of the day’s adventures and an informal networking session. By the end of the evening, the group had shared stories, laughed over their horseback riding debuts, compared padel scores, and built connections that carried into the following day’s business meetings with renewed energy.

The group returned to their Bogotá hotel by 10:00 PM, with the entire day seamlessly managed by our on-the-ground team.

What Made It Work

Three factors made this program successful. First, geographic efficiency: Tabio, Cajicá, and Chía are all within the Sabana de Bogotá corridor, meaning transfers between venues were 15–25 minutes each — no wasted time in traffic. Second, activity variety: the combination of equestrian, golf, padel, and gastronomy meant every personality type found something they loved. Third, local knowledge: our team had pre-negotiated access to private venues, coordinated timing with each facility, and had backup plans ready for weather changes — none of which a visiting event planner could arrange remotely.
