MICE in Armenia
Coffee Cultural Landscape & Boutique Haciendas
Armenia is the capital of Quindío, the smallest department in the Coffee Axis and the most tourist-developed. While smaller than Pereira and Manizales in convention infrastructure, Armenia is surrounded by the densest collection of coffee haciendas and eco-lodges in Colombia. This makes it ideal for intimate corporate retreats and incentive programs where immersive experiences and exclusive buyouts matter more than lecture-hall capacity.

Event Venues
CENEXPO — Centro de Ferias y Exposiciones
Armenia’s main exhibition and events center. Hosts congresses, trade fairs, and corporate events with capacity for 1,500+ people. Best for mid-size conventions and trade shows.

PANACA — El Bosque Convention Center
Located at PANACA agricultural theme park in Quimbaya (12 miles from Armenia). 300-person capacity convention center with full AV. What makes it unique: the venue sits within a park featuring 4,500 animals, 10 thematic stations (equine, livestock, agronomy, silk production), and 5 live shows. Adjacent lodging: 62 individual villas at Fincas Panaca. An unparalleled team-building backdrop.
Coffee Hacienda Event Spaces
Multiple working finca-hotels offer private event facilities for groups of 20–120: Hacienda Bambusa (180-hectare cacao farm), Finca Hotel Los Girasoles, Valparaiso Finca Hotel, Montes de la Castellana Boutique Hotel. These properties can be bought out entirely for corporate groups — an exclusivity level that standard hotels cannot match.
Hotel Landscape
The strength here is the boutique finca circuit, not international hotel chains. Hacienda Bambusa, Finca Los Girasoles, Finca La Mejorana, Valparaiso Finca Hotel, and Montes de la Castellana are all positioned in the coffee landscape 10–30 minutes from the city. Standard business hotels exist in central Armenia for overflow or budget-conscious groups.
Group size sweet spot: 20–80 people. The finca-hotel circuit is optimized for intimate groups where bonding and authenticity take priority. For larger conferences (1,000+), use Pereira instead.
Transportation & Access
El Edén International Airport (AXM): 4 airlines. Domestic: Bogotá (Avianca, LATAM, Wingo — ~45 flights/week, 45-minute flight), Medellín (Avianca). International: Fort Lauderdale (Spirit, seasonal), Panama City (Copa, seasonal).
Alternative: Pereira’s Matecaña Airport (PEI) is 45 minutes by road and offers broader connectivity — a practical alternative entry point.
Cocora Valley / Salento: 24 km northeast of Armenia (~30 min by road).
Attractions & Companion Programs
Cocora Valley & Salento: Colombia’s most photographed landscape — wax palms up to 60 m tall. Salento is a colorful colonial village with craft shops, trout farms, and guadua bamboo architecture. 30 minutes from Armenia.
PANACA: A genuine working-farm experience with 4,500 animals — unlike anything else in the region. Strong team-building appeal with hands-on agricultural activities.
Coffee workshops: Quindío has the most tourist-developed coffee farms in Colombia. Full seed-to-cup experiences with roasting, cupping, and plantation tours.
Guadua architecture: Armenia rebuilt after the 1999 earthquake using guadua bamboo — a UNESCO-recognized element of the Coffee Cultural Landscape.
